Raw milk, while highly nutritious, poses a risk for the transmission of infectious diseases if strict regulations are not followed and if it is not continuously monitored from milking to consumption.
CHEMIKOTECHNIKI Laboratories conduct milk testing instead of ELGO-DIMITRA, having received:a) Accreditation from ESYD (Hellenic Accreditation System)
b) Approval from the Ministry of Rural Development and Food for conducting self-checks on milk and dairy products
c) Recognition as a laboratory of the IDF (International Dairy Federation), meaning a laboratory recognized by the International Dairy Federation.
The main services provided by the Laboratories are in accordance with Directives: 46/92, 47/92 (concerning the establishment of health rules for the production and marketing of milk and milk-based products) 2180/91, 608/92 (concerning the establishment of milk analysis methods) and include:
- Microbiological quality control of the received milk and cheese products according to accredited methods.
- Complete physicochemical examination of milk, including its composition in fats, solids, lactose, proteins, freezing point control, and detection of antibiotics.
- Complete physicochemical examination of the companies’ final products to determine nutritional labeling and draft the appropriate label, according to the Food and Drink Code.
Also, the experienced and well-trained staff of the CHEMIKOTECHNIKI Laboratories provides advice on the proper implementation of the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) system, which is mandatory for food industries according to regulation (EC) 852/2004 “on the hygiene of foodstuffs”.
